Luis Mancera McCormick - Photographer

Encouraged by his father, Luis Mancera McCormick found his soulmate at age six when he picked up a camera, focused on the world around him and began to develop his personal vision.Soon thereafter, practical matters beckoned - always a diligent student, Luis went on to graduate in 1997 from the University of Guadalajara law school and specialized in corporate law for 10 years, representing cases in government, tourism and industry. That was until his desire to share the deeper truths found in his photography overpowered his legal career and Luis and the lens became one. Now a photographer-artist with a budding studio, Luis captures the mood of both nature and humanity in his images, which are most-often reproduced in black & white or cyanotype on metallic paper in order to show the complex emotional sides of Mexico that are sometimes lost in noise of its color images - a side of shadows and texture and tumult, found in Mexico's earth and sky and inhabitants. However, Luis also produces his work in color whenever he wants to shout a certain joy about his culture. He has exhibited his work in Mexicali, Tijuana, Ensenada, Ciudad Obregon, Cuernavaca, D.F, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Guadalajara and Ajijic, in various galleries and cultural centers; also in collections in the United States and Europe. He has had the honor of being prominently featured in Architectural Digest inside the home of Design Architect Michael Schaible. More, Luis has been awarded several honors for his portrayal of life on Lake Chapala. In addition to his personal artistic endeavors, Luis also provides photographic and design services for local and international artists and photographers.
